This quarter is going better than I expected it to. I was initially really worried about music team and intimidated by the daunting task it is to do it every week. However, God has been sooo gracious to allow me to have a skillful, forgiving team who is ready and willing to go with me into the Holy of Holies every week, as well as supportive leaders who are equally forgiving (Ed and Justin). As each week goes by, I get more and more excited to worship as a team, cuz man corporate worship is just something special. Personal time in worship is wonderful, but when you know other people are sharing that with you and your voices/instruments are unified in praise, man that is just great. I can’t wait for this Friday.
We’re doing a lot of cool stuff musically, and I hope it is an overflow of the joy of worship we have in our hearts. If it is merely musicians trying to be cool, it’s worthless; but by God’s grace, our best efforts at a skillful worship session will be found a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
“Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary”
Scriptural Reference:
Isaiah 40:28-31
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
what is an awesome song.
By the way, lyrics totally matter when it comes to worship. My previous post was 1) made when I was feeling emo from John Mayer and 2) referring specifically to chill-out music. When we worship, we need to know Who we’re singing about and we need to be specific with our word choice. It’s a thin line to praise the one true living God and to praise someone who doesnt even exist.
Glory in the highest!
It’s a glorious thing when you find yourself wake up, worshiping the everlasting One. That’s when you know your heart has struck gold. Sing wide. Pray up.
For His renown!
Good song and I like Isaiah reference. One of my faves. Thanks Richard for leading.
