I think I’m an impulsive buyer.

So my bicycle got stolen a few weeks ago (the second one in my college career), and I really needed a bike. After looking for all of 2 days, I ended up ordering a bike on Amazon that I thought was a good deal. Flash forward about 3 weeks – the right pedal is dead. The threads on the bicycle itself are totally worn down the point where the pedal just fell off. The replacement part would be around 50-100 dollars, so I have no idea what to do. I should have spent more time thinking about what I wanted, but hey – I was impatient and I wanted to get to class FAST and NOW.

One random thought I had today: how much of a difference would it make if an entire ancient army, like the Spartans, was wearing Underarmour underneath their real armor when they were fighting the Persians in the summer? Maybe the “wicking” technology would be multiplied by hundreds of thousands of people, equaling complete and utter annihilation.

Facebook.

Facebook has chat now! At first I thought, wow, what an awesome idea. I can talk with all these people that I haven’t talked to in a long time! Also, since we all know EVERYBODY is always on facebook, the buddy list will be stinking full. But actually now that I think about it, it’s not that great – what kept me from messaging or walling old acquaintances still keeps me from IMing them. Aaaawkard.

Anyway, I still think its best innovation was the photos. I was reading an article somewhere that said that it’s one of the top 3 or 5 photo uploading sites in the world right now! crazy. Anyway, yeah photos update me on people’s lives more than notifications of any other kind. Photos are great. Really. Great. :D

Betta fish, and being weak.

The badge and I got pet fish yesterday. Mine is this totally vicious looking blue/black crowntail that was initially named Farley, but I renamed him Bruce after Bruce Banner (+ points if you know who that is). I’ve been thinking about him a lot today and I think I’m really taking a liking to him. Hopefully I’ll be able to care for him well and not kill him.

Bruce kinda looks like this. Except not as cool. Yet.

This past quarter, I have walked up and down Bruinwalk countless times and have spotted a table with a sign that read, “Religion is for the weak”. Everytime I pass it, I write it off as some atheist group (like many on campus) intent on disproving the existence of God. However, just a few days ago, I thought about it with a new light, and in a way it is very true about our faith in Christ.

Stability vs. Isolation

I see a lot of people at the gym bench pressing with their feet in the air or on the bench. “Isolation!”, they say. “That way the weights target my chest more, and I get a better workout than people who put their feet on the floor.”

Completely unfounded, untrue, and unwise. Let me explain why.
