Pei and I bought a sledgehammer from Home Depot the other day for working out, and everytime I share that information with someone they look at me with a strange eye. Seriously, what’s so weird about it? I didn’t really think about the scenario in which we used it until we were at a mixer at Pei’s gym. It kinda went like this:
(Me to some random old cougar): “Yeah so we bought a sledgehammer and went to the local playground .. it really was a great workout! Hit the entire posterior chain, abs/obliques and forearms were killer! Too bad it kinda made messes at the tanbark and stuff.”
Random old cougar: You are insane but we like you guys cause you’re young and bristling with life. Tell me more.
Is it really that weird?! Cmon. Anyway I got an old car tire from Mike so we can beat on that instead. I’ll try for sets of 1-minute on it tomorrow, that’ll definitely get the juices flowing. Anyway, no other real news other than my guitar came!! It’s a beauty – if you’re ever over or talking to me, ask me about it and I’ll show ya. Still unnamed, although the default nicknames of “Thor, King of War” and “Krug, Warlord of the Barbarians” are always possibilities.
Allergic to the counterfeit.

Alright, knock one thing off my list. I signed with The Right Stuff, and frankly, it’s one of the best values in a gym i’ve seen to date. (Thanks Pei.) The staff are nice, the weights relatively grungy and iron-y (the more dirt the better in my book – why would you want to work out in a hospital environment? But i digress.), and the killer is the price. With a gift certificate, I ended up paying about $9 a month for a 1-year contract. NINE. Eat that, YMCA. You’re only in business still because of the Village People, and even that is overrated these days.
