Middle Name Thoughts.

The middle name “Marie” automatically makes any name sound better. Anne? Why not Anne Marie? Daisy? Daisy Marie is definitely the better choice. Steph? How bout dem Steph MARIE apples?! Granted, adding “Marie” to your name will instantly make me think you to be working in the barn in the Little House on the Prairie, but that ain’t always a bad thing. Barnwork is a respectable job.

I wonder if there is a guy version of this “Marie” phenomenon – if there was, it would probably be “John”. “Richard John”, “David John”, and our personal favorite, “Long John”. All acceptable and exceptional names!

Too bad my middle name is none of these aforementioned awesomes. This is the life of a Chinese male.

Bullets.

I feel like I haven’t updated in a long time and I realized why – there are SO many social networking sites right now! It’s really ridiculous. The world is obsessed with freeing up consumers to publish their thoughts and views on just about anything at a frenetic pace. I am so active on Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and regular emails that WordPress just doesn’t get the time of day anymore. This is debatable, but I think I see the degradation of quality blogging with the inventions and rises-to-fame of sites like Twitter and Tumblr, where all you need is to say things like “my towel was gone today so I ran around naked after the shower looking for a new one hee hee” (one of my actual posts). It’s completely brainless and requires no use of intelligent thought or discernible speech. Anyway.

I am going down to LA this weekend to visit my UCLA friends as well as my homie in Irvine. I really love going down to LA and didn’t realize how much I had missed it until I began planning this impromptu trip to play volleyball with GOC on Saturday.

What’ll it be like, being at GOC? Will I be the weird old guy that everyone just kinda looks at and mutters to each other, “Why is he here? I heard he left a long time ago. Does he even go to church anymore?” Will I be looking at 50% of the people I used to know so well and not even recognize their faces anymore because of all the new people? I have no idea.

All I know is that I will be having a blast this weekend (save the driving time)! TWITA.
