Couple things I have noticed in the past few weeks:
- It’s so awkward when you have already prepared a greeting (or a farewell) to some stranger you see walking towards you from a distance. And then when they get here, they totally throw a curve ball at you and greet you in a way that makes your greeting sound absolutely retarded. Example: Sometimes I like to anticipate someone saying a phrase like “have a good day!” to me (or “take care!”), so I think up in my mind to say “you too!”
Sometimes though people will say something like “Catch you later!” Then you just look like a fail english conversationalist when you blurt out “you too!”. I bet they laugh all the way to their cars about how idiotic I am. Ugh.
….I cannot remember for the life of me what the other awkward mishap was. Will update later if I remember! haha.
