I said I would post some thoughts from Japan, so here are some.

  • I’m not a huge travel person, but I was still glad I went for many reasons. With all the sightseeing and experience gathering, it also brought out a renewed appreciation for home and having a community and environment I can call my own.
  • I need to write more.. there were a lot of times that I was able to be alone (trains) and think, and I recall making significant progress in working out some areas of my life that needed some time to sort through. Problem? I can’t remember 90% of it. Haha FML. There’s also a lot of stuff I think about that isn’t really categorized under “WordPress-able” either.
  • We lived in hostels and met the most interesting people. Out of the dozens or so there, our group was the only one comprising of young adults who took the cookiecutter route of high school -> college -> job. Everyone else seemed to be on another track that was striving after something more than money and prestige, which was cool to see. We met English teachers, travelers with no money, random British people who smoked 3 packs a day, K1 fighters, and too many more to really remember. Makes me wonder if we really are the minority, or if we simply happened to meet that many eccentric people.
